The quick bio:
Alyssa Roat lives in the cornfields of Indiana, but she hopes to soon discover a portal to a fantasy world where she will run a bookshop for magical creatures. For now, she is a multi-published author and has worked in a wide variety of roles within the publishing industry as an agent, editor, writer, and publicist. She and her wife have four black cats who allegedly have never been fed in their lives and occasionally help her write by walking across the keyboard. Her name is a pun, which means you can learn more about her on social media @alyssawrote.
The longer bio:
I’ve been writing stories since before I started kindergarten. I love words.
In my day job, you’ll find me working in SEO. By evenings and weekends, I’m a multi-published author with several publishers.
With my wonderful co-author Hope Bolinger, we wrote the YA superhero chat fiction romances Dear Hero and Dear Henchman, and the Greek mythology spinoff Dear Hades. I’m also the author of the award-winning YA contemporary fantasy series The Wraithwood Trilogy and, once again with Hope Bolinger, the sweet romance series, Roseville Romances.
For those of you who want to read about my (not-so-tragic) backstory, I was the managing editor at speculative fiction imprint Mountain Brook Fire, I spent two years as the publicity manager at publisher Mountain Brook Ink, and I’m a former literary agent. I graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Professional Writing. I was the online editor and a staff writer for The Echo News, the website and blog manager and a pub board member for Illuminate YA Publishing, an intern at Little Lamb Books and Hartline Literary Agency, and a research assistant at Zondervan Library. I won various awards and things for writing, and I have hundreds bylines in local and international publications.
As you navigate around this site, you’ll find links to my blog (very sporadically updated), my books, my online store, and a way to contact me.
Hope you have fun, and I’d love to get to know you! I’m @alyssawrote on social media. I’d love to connect with you there, especially if you like writing, too.
Cheers!

I just found your blog through the interview Tricia Goyer did featuring you, and I’m so excited to get Wraithwood! I love speculative and this book sounds amazing!
I was wondering, when I checked the book out on Amazon, I saw a review that said you were 17 when you wrote Wraithwood… Is that true?

Hi there! Yes, it is somewhat true, at least for the initial version. Wraithwood wasn’t published until I was 22 though, and it had undergone plenty of edits by then!
